My name is David Adeyemi, and for close to ten years, I have dedicated my work as a scientist to unlocking the potential of disruptive innovation, sustainable product development and food security.

With a foundation in microbiology and over eight years of experience driving business transformation, I have built my career at the intersection of science, innovation, and sustainability. My journey began in agricultural roots with hands in the soil and eyes fixed on a future where food represents an intersection between balance, science, and spirit.

Before founding Adeyemi Smart Farms Limited – (trading as Asfarm Technologies), I worked as a Scientific Product Developer at a Fortune 500 conglomerate, where I contributed to the development of next generation consumer goods and reduced risk sustainable products. That experience elevated my understanding of scalable innovation, product safety, and sustainability driven research. Skills I now channel into the world of fungi.

My fascination with mushrooms began during my stay in the United Kingdom and also holidays in far East Asia where I studied extensively the commercial production of edible mushroom mycelium, notably oyster, lions mane, button and shiitake mushrooms. That work planted the seeds for ASFARM, a family venture dedicated to the research, cultivation, and development of exotic and medicinal mushroom mycelium.

I hold degrees from the Ajayi Crowther University and postgraduate studies at Lead City University, Metropolitan School of Business and Management, TECH Technological University and Golden Gate University, specialised in microbiology, sustainable product development, new product marketing and international business. I am also a proud member of the International Society for Mushroom Science and the Nigerian Society for Microbiology.

My work today is driven by a belief that mushrooms are not just organisms, but gateways to a regenerative future where biotechnology, ecology, and entrepreneurship converge to create lasting change for future generations.

I see mushrooms as the most impactful and sustainable solution to food security and I am committed to amplify the ripple of transformation already underway in the world of fungi.
